GFCMH is organizing a workshop in Bangalore “The role of consumers in mental health care” within the context of the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation 10th World Congress. In the workshop experiences of consumers groups in a sample of lower-middle-income countries (Sri Lanka, Kenya, Tanzania, India ) will be presented and discussed.
The role of consumers in relation to countries’ mental health care system will be highlighted. Suggestions will be given on how consumers can contribute to delivery on mental health care. Problems of consumers movement in low income countries will be compared with experiences of consumers organizations and consumer-run services in Western countries. TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP FOR THE GLOBAL MENTAL HEALTH SUMMIT
We would like to inform you that the Movement for Global Mental Health is glad to offer a limited number of travelling fellowships for members to participate in the Global Mental Health Summit, Athens, September 2nd, 2009. The fellowships are only available for participants from low or middle income countries. Applications can be made through the web site http://www.globalmentalhealth.org/articles.php?id=150 and must be submitted by June 20th, 2009.
A maximum of 750 pounds is available to successful applicants. Decisions on the applications will be communicated by early July.
We would like to inform you that new International Master in Mental Health Policy and Services developed by the University of Lisbon, in collaboration with the World Health Organization is pleased to announce admissions for academic year 2009-10.
The course has two main objectives:
1 - Develop the knowledge and the skills that are required to participate in the formulation and implementation of mental health policies, plans and services;
2 - Develop capacity to conduct research projects in the area of mental health policy and services.
The Masters will start on the 7th September 2009 and ends in April 2010.
